Vantage Point

Taking in the week, I’m seeing things with new eyes. Simple truths hit the hardest. Hindsight is a luxury.

I bought a new tee based on one of my favorite Caravaggio paintings. It got me in the mood to mix things up with the painting. Welcoming a new member to my modernist classics club.

Then I get a late nite request for a Japanese horse game character and of course, I’m interested in the idea.

Back in my mind’s perch, there are sights that rattle me; Stop me in my tracks.

My stance hasn’t changed, but my viewpoint has. Whether far or close, the city has a way of sparkling.

There’s a familiarity and connection in the little things. It was just waiting to be noticed.

So my floral phase of doodling has started I see. Don’t mind me, just dropping in some poppies.

I sing alone but hear two voices
Feel the pull of phantom choices
Am I leading? Am I led?
By the music in my head

Every step I take, he takes
Every move I make, he makes
In the silence between the sound
He’s the rhythm I have found

I feel like I’m not doing this mental scene justice. Let’s try that again, shall we?

Continuing this trend into the use of flowers, I wanted to give them a long view.

Seeing them all together, it inspired a new scene.

A seaside retirement for the kooky little couple. I think I’ll always need to be near water.

A new request comes in, this time for something not literal, a metaphor. I’ll bite.

Once again, I’m thinking of the endless blue. The juxtaposition of a beachside city with a crumbling infrastructure against Tom Ripley’s boat changes my mood.

In my attempts to become more social again, I’ve returned to social media to find that it’s hardly a place I recognize. I don’t see posts of my friends, I see ads and the like. One reoccurring post is about buying a Japanese home for under $60k. I’m failing to hear any reasons to not move to Japan. Inspired by: Higashi Chaya and the Asa-no-kawa River.

Reflection means growth, combining experience with endurance. My roots continue to cultivate. The frame of reference, the context, lives and breathes.
